In both the 1891 and 1901 Census, Dorothy and George are both living with their respective parents, but after they marry in 1904, Dorothy becomes hard to trace.
We cannot find any records for Dorothy or her sons, Robert, Albert or William in the 1911 Census but in the column on the left, there is a link for George Hoye in this Census, showing him listed at 12 Russell St in Middlesbrough.
George is also listed on the 1939 Register on his own at 18 Romulus Street in Gateshead with no mention of Dorothy.

To further complicate things, there is an entry on the UK and Ireland 1878 - 1960 incoming passenger list, showing Robert Hoye entering the UK from New York, on the 11th December 1928 and showing a proposed
address of 18 Romulus Street in Gateshead, which by chance is the exact same address his father George is at in the 1939 Register.

This would suggest that Dorothy had left the UK for the US, some time previously.

There is an entry for a Miss D Hoye showing travel to New York on the George Washington in 1910, is this her?
However, there appears to be no sign of Robert, Albert or William on any journey outbound and only Robert inbound. Very strange!!

In the 1921 Census, George is living at 18 Romulus Street in Gateshead with his three sons, but again, no sign of Dorothy.

While all three of Dorothy and George's children went on to marry, there is no further sign of Dorothy in the UK.

George Thirlwell Hoye died in Gateshead at the age of 62 in late 1944 or early 1945.
